A great day out for all the Family.
If you're visiting the Kingdom of Fife this summer, be sure to go to a Highland Games if you can. Although they do attract overseas visitors, primarily they are local events for local people. It is such a wonderful site seeing the Highland Dress, or other tartan clothes. But generally you will catch a glimpse of part of our culture. Every 'games' has its own uniqueness, but there are some things that are common to all. You will find the dancers getting themselves prepared for the dancing events, men (and sometimes women) limbering up for the athletic events especially Tossing the Cabor .
Of course you'll hear and see individuals and the pipe bands practicing for the marches and music events. There are also usually refreshment and other stalls. There is always a small entrance charge and possibly a Parking Fee - but it is a great day out for all the family. Wear sturdy shoes if you're going to be walking a lot, and although rain rarely stops the 'fun' check out the local weather forcast before you go, so you will be more advised on what to wear. Do check with the organisers prior to going in case there are any last minute changes to the programme.
